Super Bowl Ad

Just a quick post about something I just learned about...in case y'all did not already know...there is going to be an ad shown during the Super Bowl in ASL. It was made by PepsiCo and their employees.

Here is the link... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ffrq6cUoE5A

Hope y'all enjoy!

P.S. It has captions for all you hearing people out there.

Comments

I believe I changed my settings so that anyone can post a comment...you don't have to sign up with Google, or have a blog, or something like that...thought y'all might like to know.

A little excerpt

Here is a little excerpt from my very first paper in Composition 102 this semester.
Since it's mostly Deaf people from Louisville that read this blog I figure y'all would get the most out of it. We had to write a paper about ourselves, but it was in a weird format...you will see what I mean.

"I am what I am. Noise within silence. A product of silent love. A church where no one speaks a word, yet their concern is felt loud and clear. I am what I am."

Yep...that's about as poetic I can be. Don't know what kind of grade I will be getting, But I am hoping since it's the first paper the professor won't be too hard on me.

In other news, the great Bobby Fischer died. One of the best chess players to ever come out of America. Sadly I think in his case...playing to much chess fried his brain. He became crazy. I saw some article that said when 9/11 happened he basically said that the U.S. deserved it.

He even had some very anti-Semitic opinions. Ironically, he was Jewish himself.

Even with all that...I still think he was a really good chess player.

P.S. Dad did you hear about Roddick's third round loss in Australia? I saw the match...wow!

much love,
Jo

Spring '08

Well I figured I should say something about how school has been thus far, which altogether it ain't to bad. Composition I think will be a doozy. And the teacher for Health...she seems entirely to happy. My brother might think I am bubbly around him, but this woman I am sure is 10 times worse. I don't know if she drank to many energy drinks or what...
ASL 202 so far has been giving me a sense of deja vu. Because I remember Dr. High teaching these exact same lessons when I visited Gardner-Webb back in high school. We pretty much try to describe everything with only classifiers. For those who don't know: classifiers are particular hand shapes used to describe any object, which can also be mixed with facial expressions for clarity.
My stats teacher seems nice enough, and so far I am understanding everything. However we are only going over definitions, we have not gotten to the numbers just yet. I am thinking I will be fine, just got to make sure to ask for help when I am confused.

In other news, we have a new Deaf student this semester. His name is Michael and if I understood correctly he is going deaf and blind. The cause is some muscle disorder. The interesting thing about Michael is he only uses finger spelling and typing on his laptop to communicate. He does speak, but it is not always very clear. Just from talking him during dinner, I think my finger spelling improved a little bit.

So that's just a little bit that has happened to me recently. Tonight are the auditions for Gloria Dei, this semester's theatrical production. Which hopefully means I will be getting to help with costumes soon.

Talk to y'all later!
