What I have been up to...

Since I have not had time to type up what I wanted to say about Camp Dogwood...I have decided to inform y'all of what I have been doing most recently in my life. I enjoyed volunteering a lot in high school and even in college that is something I enjoy doing.
So an outlet for that is the production this semester that the theatre program is performing. They do one every semester. This semester they are performing a play called "Martyr." I have been helping the costume shop out. The girl who is the head of the costumes is only a senior. But she is awesome. Her name is Erin Mann.
And the most amazing thing happened yesterday! In the first time in my life I sewed using a sewing machine! Chris Keene the director of the production had been asking a lot of her recently, so she was tired of it all...and asked if I wanted to make a tunic for the stage hands. (The general design of the play is a Roman/Armenian mix.) I asked if she was sure about that...since I had never used a sewing machine before. But she said she did not care any more.
So I made one tunic for a stage hand. Because the stitches were not very good. They were very zig-zag, messed up, not straight...etc. I then practiced making straight lines with scraps. After that, she had me make another tunic for a guard. And finally the last thing I made was basically a really long tunic.
I only did very simple design. It was like making a really long t-shirt. But still I am very proud of myself. I hope to help them out next semester with the Spring production.
Hope everybody is good back in KY!

Heh, once you made something on the sewing machine, the old way seems soo old and boring. The new sewing machine style is soo fascinating. Once you learn how to use it, you want to use it again and again to make stuff. I used one in high school as part of a sewing class. The only thing I still use from that class was a blanket I made. My family loves it! Happy sewing for other things for the theatre.
